Peak Leadership Development

Peak Leadership Development and Soft Skills Courses

Through our Peak Leadership Development brand, Sherpa Intelligence offers a curriculum specifically designed to guide managers to their highest potential. Courses are designed to be delivered either virtually or in-person.

The program is built specifically for modular delivery. Each module is a standalone experience that provides just in time learning. This structure allows for a flexible approach that fits into the busy schedules of mid-level managers while providing immediate value. Most of the courses are about 90 minutes in length, but can be expanded to provide more depth, upon request. Additionally, multiple modules can be curated into a half day, full day or multi-day workshop.

Virtual training often fails because it ignores how the adult brain processes information. To combat Zoom fatigue and ensure maximum retention, every session is grounded in a framework that ensures participants remain active participants rather than passive observers.

Delivering Challenging Feedback.

Feedback is the fuel for growth, yet many managers struggle to deliver it effectively. This module moves beyond debunked methods like the compliment sandwich which can often dilute the message. It introduces a framework that focuses on praise, opportunity and recommendations. This shift ensures that feedback is specific and behavior based while removing the sting of personal criticism. Managers leave with a script they can use immediately to address performance gaps and encourage growth.

Conflict Resolution and Navigation.

Conflict is an inevitable part of a growing organization. Utilizing a self-assessment based on the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Styles, managers identify their preferred conflict style from five key modes: Competing, Collaborating, Compromising, Avoiding and Accommodating. By understanding their own default setting, they can better adapt their style to de-escalate situations and find win-win solutions within their teams. This module focuses on turning friction into productive dialogue.

Effective Delegation.

This module begins with a foundational truth: If you could do the work by yourself, you wouldn’t have a team. This session focuses on the critical role of trust in the delegation process and how a lack of trust inevitably leads to micromanagement. Participants discuss how to match tasks with team member strengths and how to provide the right level of oversight without hovering. This ensures that managers can focus on strategy while their teams grow through new responsibilities.

Team Building.

Leading a dispersed team requires a different set of muscles than the physical office environments of the past. This module explores how to engage teams in both in-person and virtual settings by focusing on psychological safety and intentional rapport building. We discuss practical ways to maintain team health when you cannot simply walk over to a colleague’s desk.

Time Management.

Efficiency is often mistaken for effectiveness, and many managers spend their days reacting to the loudest fire instead of the most important task. This module is built on the Eisenhower Matrix popularized by Stephen Covey to help leaders distinguish between the urgent and the truly important. We explore the psychological traps of crisis management and provide strategies to shift focus toward the activities that drive long term results. Participants learn to categorize their daily tasks into four quadrants and identify the effectiveness zone where high-level strategy happens. By the end of the session managers have a clear plan to reclaim their schedules and understand that time management is really about priority management.

Effective Goal Setting.

Goals should be a compass for performance rather than a chore for compliance. Many managers view goal setting as a rigid annual requirement instead of a dynamic roadmap for success. This module explores why meaningful objectives are the engine for team engagement and how they provide clarity in a fast-paced environment. We utilize the SMART methodology to ensure every goal is Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound. Participants move beyond theory by drafting an actual goal they can implement with their team immediately. This ensures that every leader leaves with a clear target and a defined path to reach it.

Effective Communication.

Communication is the bridge between strategy and execution, yet it is often where leadership breaks down. This module moves beyond basic talking points to focus on the art of active listening and intentional messaging. We explore how different communication styles impact team dynamics and how to tailor your delivery to ensure clarity and alignment.
Participants learn to strip away corporate jargon in favor of authentic dialogue that builds trust and reduces ambiguity. By the end of the session managers have a toolkit for navigating difficult conversations and ensuring their message is heard as intended.

New Manager Pitfalls.

Transitioning from a top individual contributor to a team leader is a volatile shift that often catches new managers off guard. This module identifies the most common traps including the difficult transition from peer to manager and the sudden change in relationship dynamics. We explore how to navigate the friend to boss boundary and establish professional authority without damaging existing team trust. Participants examine real world scenarios to avoid the pitfalls of micromanagement and the urge to remain the technical expert for every task. By the end of the session new leaders have a strategic roadmap to navigate their first 90 days with confidence and clarity.

Interviewing Skills.

Hiring is one of the most significant investments an organization makes and getting it wrong is incredibly costly. This module focuses on behavioral interviewing techniques to move past gut feelings toward evidence-based hiring. We utilize the STAR method which stands for Situation, Task, Action and Result to help managers extract concrete examples of past performance that predict future success. The session also covers the essential do’s and don’ts of the interview process including a critical review of illegal questions to ensure compliance and equity. Managers leave with the confidence to conduct structured interviews that identify the best talent while helping to protect the organization from legal risk.
*At the request of the client this module can be customized to align with specific internal interview guides.

Customer Obsession.

High performance organizations understand that exceptional service applies to both internal and external customers and that simple satisfaction is no longer enough to guarantee loyalty. This module is based on the principles from Jon Picoult’s “From Impressed to Obsessed” and focuses on the 12 principles for turning stakeholders into lifelong fans. We explore how to move beyond merely meeting expectations to creating emotionally resonant experiences that drive long term advocacy. Participants learn to identify friction points in the customer journey and apply practical techniques to differentiate their brand in a crowded marketplace. By the end of the session managers have a framework for cultivating a culture of obsession that yields immediate and measurable behavioral change.
*A companion eLearning is available as prework for this program.

Presentation Skills.

Delivering a message that sticks requires more than just a deck of slides and a steady voice. This module introduces fundamental adult learning concepts to non-trainers to help them design and deliver presentations that actually resonate with their audience. We explore how the adult brain processes information and how to structure content for maximum retention during business presentations and routine team meetings. While this is not a technical course on software, we highlight high level slide design throughout the session by explaining the visual psychology behind the format we are using. Participants learn how to move from talking at an audience to engaging with them through purposeful facilitation. By the end of the session leaders have the skills to turn every presentation into an opportunity for alignment and influence.

Virtual Facilitation Skills.

Traditional training methods often fall flat in a digital environment because they ignore how the adult brain processes information.
This module adapts core presentation concepts specifically for virtual delivery with a focus on active training rather than passive observation. We provide a comprehensive technical checklist covering camera placement, microphone quality and lighting to ensure your professional presence is maintained.
Participants explore how to leverage digital tools to foster engagement and ensure that learning sticks despite the physical distance. By the end of the session facilitators have the technical confidence and instructional tools to lead high impact virtual experiences that rival in person sessions.
